What is alginate fiber?
Alginate fiber is one type of artificial fiber, and refers to the fiber prepared with sodium alginate extracted from ocean alga plants as raw materials.
Where is alginate fiber from?Raw materials of alginate fiber is from algae in oceans. At present,the number of known alga types exceeds 22,000. Algae are widely distributed in the whole world and can be roughly classified into red algae,brown algae,green algae and blue algae according to colors.
Classification of alginate fiber.Alginate fiber includes alginate salt fiber and alginic acid fiber. The fiber prepared by making sodium alginate and polyva-lent metal ions exchanged and subjected to a chelation reaction is alginate salt fiber which is divided into calcium alginate fiber,silver alginate fiber,zinc alginate fiber and the like according to the different types of metal ions; Classification of alginate fiber.
ALGINATE FIBER FEATURE(1) Flame-retardant performanceThe flame-retardant performance of the product is excellent.the limit oxygen index (LOl) is larger than or equal to 45%: in the combustion process, basically no flue gas is generated, no toxic gas is generated and melting and driciping can not happen, and the performance is far superior to that of the flame-retardant fiber frequenty seen on the cumunt market.
(2) Moisture absorption performanceThe moisture absorption performance of the alginate fiber applied to the field of textiles and garments and used as garment materials is excellent, the moisture regain exceeds 16%,and the alginate fiber can compare favorably with high-grade long stapled cotton fiber due to the comfort and has the excellent hand feeling and wearing comfort which are similar to those of silk.(3)High absorptivity and gel obstruction performance
Alginate fiber applied to the biomedical field can absorb a large amount of wound effusion, and therefore the number of bandage replacement times is decreased, the nursing time is shortened, and nursing expenses are reduced.(4) Hemostasis moisture preservation and high removabilityAfter Ca2+ in biomedical alginate fiber and Na+ in blood are exchanged, the blood coagulation and escharosis speed is increased; meanwhile, soft gel is formed after fiber absorbs exudate and expands, and a protection effect on regenerated soft and tender tissue is achieved; fiber can be washed away by spraying warm saline water, and secondary injuries caused when gauze is removed are prevented.(5) Antibacterial performanceAlginate fiber has the excellent anti-bacterial performance, the antibacterial rate of escherichia coli reaches up to 99%, and the antibacterial rate of staphylococcus aureus reaches up to 99%.(6) Anti-radiation performance

Saline water resistance: by means of independent technology research and development, alginate fiber can keep the morphology and cannot be dissolved when soaked and washed in normal saline for a long time, the problems that alginate fiber is prone to expansion, breakage and dissolution when making contact with sweat and normal saline are funda-mentally solved, and alginate fiber can be widely applied to the fields of underwear, sportswear and the like.
Detergent resistance: Traditional seaweed fiber is easy to get soluble in detergents, which limits its application in textile and apparel. The new generation of alginate fiber solved this technical problem through independent technology research and development, and realized the long-term insolu-ble problem of while soaking and washing for a while, and made it widely used in many fields like clothing, home textiles, fire protection and so on.
High moisture regain: the moisture regain of fiber exceeds 16%, comfort of fiber exceeds that of long stapled cotton, and the hand feeling of fiber is similar to those of silk and wool.
The average strength of fiber exceeds 2.6 cN/dtex and exceeds the strength of cotton fiber, and fiber can be purely spun to prepare fabric and can also be blended together with other fiber to prepare related products.
